The West Texas JPCA annually awards scholarships.  To qualify for
consideration, an applicant must be a dues-paying member, child of a
member, or grandchild of a member, and a full-time student, either in
high school pending college entry or an actively enrolled college student.
WTJPCA, at its Annual Training Conference for 2006, in the City of Wichita Falls, adopted the
WTJPCA Scholarship Program. A scholarship committee was appointed consisting of (1) Justice of the
Peace, (1) Constable, and (1) Clerk.
The following scholarship application requirements and procedures were approved and adopted by the
general membership at the 2007 Annual Training Conference in Amarillo.
WTJPCA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
1.        All Applications must be presented through a duly elected Constable or
Justice of the Peace. The presenting Constable or Justice of the Peace must
be a paid up member of the West Texas Justices of the Peace and
Constables Association

2.        All student applicants must be a family member or employee of a paid up
member of the WTJPCA.  Family member is defined as:  a person who is
carried as a dependent with the IRS, a grandchild or great grandchild.
Employee is defined as: any person who is paid by the County and under the            
supervision of a Constable or Justice of the Peace.

3.        All applications to be considered must be received by the President no later
than March 1st of the current business year of the Association.

4.        All applications received by the President will be numbered in the order
received, the cover sheet removed, and submitted to the Scholarship
Committee no later than March 10th of the current business year of the
Association.

5.        The Scholarship Committee must present those applications selected to the
general membership for approval at the regular business meeting of the
Annual Training Conference. No dollar amount may be awarded above the
current balance in the scholarship fund of the Association.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1.        Each applicant must be classified as a senior in high school or a full time
College student.

2.        Each applicant must provide the following items:

A.        A cover sheet(s) with the name of the applicant, the high school
he/she attended, the college he/she is attending or planning to attend,
and the field of study (major).  The applicant's name shall not appear
anywhere other than on the cover sheet.

B.        A brief narrative why the applicant believes he/she should be awarded
this scholarship.  The applicant shall not refer to a Constable, Justice
of the Peace, or Clerk by name within the narrative.

C.        The applicant will place his/her completed application in a sealed
envelope marked, “WTJPCA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION”, and
take it to any WTJPCA member Justice of the Peace or Constable,
who will submit it to the current President of WTJPCA no later than
March 1st of the current business year of the Association.

D.        WTJPCA reserves the right to accept or reject any application
submitted
