West Texas Justices of the
Peace and Constables
Association
Conference 2010 Wrap-Up

Well, another conference has come and gone, and what a
wonderful time we had in Wichita Falls!  Our gracious
hosts, Jim and Lee Humphrey, with much help from
Janice Sons and many others, put on another great
adventure, including a trip to the Kiowa Casino, a tour of
the local winery, and some of the best dining that Wichita
Falls has to offer.  Of course, the banquet was
outstanding, a barbecue feast put on by two local sheriffs
and their deputies (imagine that-sheriffs serving
constables!), along with great music by a local country
folk band called Prairie Moon.

Training on Thursday consisted of a full day of truancy
and juvenile case management presented by Judge
David Cobos of Midland County, long considered the
innovator in Texas truancy courts.  Friday, more training
on statutes and codes, then Legislative Updates on
Saturday for peace officers.

All in all, another wonderful conference, with all the
requisite camaraderie and fun, including the card and
domino games in the evenings.

Due to newcomers in office, we return next year to
Wichita Falls for our annual conference, and Jim
Humphrey scores the coup, as the 2011 JPCA Statewide
conference is also in Wichita Falls.  Thanks, Jim, for a
great conference this year, and for working so hard for
your fellow West Texans and all Justices of the Peace
and Constables statewide in 2011.
