2012 Training Conferences
Happy New Year 2012 !!!
Well, it has been busy around my office here in El Paso, as I'm
sure it has been around yours. Here's the latest information on
the 2012 conferences for the West Texas JPCA as well as the
statewide JPCA.
WEST TEXAS JPCA CONFERENCE - EL PASO
It is official and confirmed for April 18th-21st, 2012, the
Embassy Suites will be our host hotel this year. Many of you
will remember that our 2008 conference was at the same
hotel, and the total renovation of the property has been
completed. It is a truly fantastic hotel, and we know that
everyone will love their stay. We have an initial block of 20
rooms until April 1st, so book your room early at our
guaranteed per-diem rate of $88.00 per night, which is actually
lower than the rate we received in 2008.
While we are still ironing out the final details on our training
topics for everyone, we do know the following:
Elected Constables and Chief Deputies/Top Supervisors will
take 8 hours in Evidence and Property Management on
Thursday (this is the same course currently offered at LEMIT,
and TCLEOSE credit through LEMIT will be provided).
Field Deputies will be offered 8 hours in Verbal Defense and
Influence (also TCLEOSE credited through LEMIT).
Many more details will be released when they are confirmed,
so keep checking here at least once a week for updates,
which we will also send out via e-mail.
JPCA STATE CONFERENCE - SOUTH PADRE ISLAND
Back to the beach for 2012, the Isla Grand Resort is our host
for the statewide JPCA conference this year. (HINT: don't
follow in my footsteps - ties are NOT allowed in South Padre!)
The conference will be June 24-28, 2012, and according to the
Gavel and the Badge, rooms are filling up fast! Call the Isla
Grand Resort at 1-800-292-7704 to make your reservations
today. Room rates are $129.00 per night for Cabana rooms,
and $258.00 per night for Condo rooms.
